High School Volunteer Opportunities

Here at Black Horse Rescue, we understand the value behind hard work and have developed several opportunities for local high school students to give back while earning community service hours.

On-Site Volunteering

The opportunity to volunteer alongside these impeccable equines is a privilege. In order to volunteer in person, we have developed a program to ensure prospective volunteers are not only trained properly, but in a safe manner for all. Volunteer space is limited to 6 volunteers per month. All volunteers are required meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum age to volunteer is 14.

  • Volunteers must be self-starters, responsible, respectful, alert and aware of their surroundings.

  • Attend 2-Day Training - Training sessions are held twice per year, in January and August from 12-3pm on last 2 Saturdays of the month.

    • Parents MUST attend first hour of 1st training session.

    • Students will earn 6 community service hours during training.

    • Cost to register for training is $50/volunteer. Training is valid for 2 years.

  • NEXT TRAINING SESSIONS:

    • AUGUST 24TH & 31ST 12PM - 3PM

    • JANUARY 18TH & 25TH 12PM - 3PM

Off-Site Volunteering

Can’t volunteer on-site? Various off-site volunteer opportunities will become available throughout the year and will be updated here. Current opportunities include:

  • Photographing horses - location may vary - inspire our future with your artistic ability to capture these four-legged friends. Hours provided for photographs and editing time.

  • Participate in Our supply drive! - No minimum or maximum donations required
